Day 9 Gamla Continued

From Gamla we traveled through some military danger zones along the Syrian borders. We arrived at a placed that was wired shut. Of course Ray found a hole to walk into a Tel that was currently being excavated. Amazing how so many years ago they cut these columns and collars. The fancy hand chiseling is simply amazing. I don't remember much about these places. The scenes here are between Gamla and Cesarea Philipi. Perhaps somewhere along the road to Damascus and by the Via Maras. Many people possibly traveled through here including Jesus and the Disciples.

Oh, and yes - the Damascus Road turns off here.

The place is Omrit...One of my favorite places. Jesus may have walked by here with the disciples as they went to Caesarea Philipi, which was only a couple of more miles down the road. Maybe and just maybe this Temple...Which was calling out to all who walked by..."Caesar is the son of god"...maybe this temple prompted Jesus to ask, "If they think Caesar is the son of god....Who do they say I am?"
