Heading up Mt Arbel was very treacherous. You can see the pictures on the way up where a slip or a fall meant a sure disaster! If you kept your eyes on where you walked and where the path was, you didn't see the danger as much. If you paused on the journey and looked around, it was a very scary feeling. Doesn't it sound like a life of faith!
After we got to the top, it was such a beautiful scene looking down over the sea of Galilee and over toward the mount of the Beatitudes. It was a very refreshing time and I was sure the bus would be on top somewhere to pick us up. MMMMMM, wrong!
I think the path down on the other side of the mountain was much worse then the way up. We were literally hanging onto steel handles attached to the rocky mountain stones as we tip toed our way down. These pictures don't do justice, perhaps i can get some video on by next week.

I loved that day! I did feel sorry for people that were afraid of heights.=( After hearing the Mt. Arbel story it made so much sense how it was so hard for people to accept Jesus' message of love and forgiveness of their enemies. How much more I should be able and willing to love the unloving because I haven't gone through what they did!
No these pictures do not do justice at all and I’m sure Erma would agree!!!! I don’t remember much about the hike up Mt Arbel but I do remember being a little shaky on the way down (heights is not something I’m exactly fond of). Some of you that were in the back of the line might remember the scare Joe gave me, and to his (and some others) delight I screamed!!! O well I guess it keeps life interesting! But I’m glad that by this time I did have faith that RVL know what he was doing!!
What I loved more and more especially at this point in the trip was the "living illustration" we were taking part in---that of the cloud of witnesses at the end of the difficult stretch, cheering the others on, and being visible proof (feet firm on the bottom again) that it really CAN be done!!! Hang in there, brothers, sisters! With God all things are possible!
I'm with you Cynthia, I loved that day, the hike and all! I remember so vividly how overwhelmed I felt up there at the top when RVL told us he had hiked that mountain earlier that morning to pray for us and how he said the Rabbi calls us because He sees in us what it takes to be a talmid. WOW! That still blows me away. I want that passion, the passion like my Rabbi! "The passion for the Text comes from the Text." - RVL
