Another morning of hurry, eat breakfast we're going to the beach! Ah, not so fast!! We walk down the street and meet by the dead sea and this lonely tree. Who am I? Where am I found in the Bible? What lesson am I for these people? After this tree/beach experience we headed for Qumran. Another nice climb what happened here? This cave picture from Spencer gives a wonderful story for God's people!

Like an Ahrora in the desert. When you open the beautiful, juicy looking fruit what do you find but a poisonous powdery substance. So, what do people find when they come to me for shade and look deep into my heart? Poison & emptiness or Living Water?
Qumran-Ah, the Essenes & their passion for the text. Also, "I will lift you out of the miry clay & will set your feet upon a rock!
Thanks Rosetta for that thought. And Roy thanks for keeping these pictures posted. I like the picture of RVL laying down on the ground never afraid to demonstrate how it was done just so we could get the picture.!
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, "PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD!!!" Remove the stones of stumbling, let the light of God be the only light--"In thy light shall we see light", meaning if God's light is what we use to view things, we'll understand more and more and more.....are we so hungry for His light and Truth that we would personally sacrifice as much as did these "sons of light"???!!!
How do you do this Roy? Once again this my SS Lesson for this week.
I've been deep in the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Essenes all week. I listened to the fist 30 or so minutes of our lessons from Qumran on my Ipod and took 8 pages of notes. The lessons at Qumran are so RICH in nuggets of truth. I may need to spend several weeks here with my Class. God used the Essenes, as well as others, to prepare the Nation of Israel for the coming of His Son!
Do you remember that the Essenes used "Bread and Wine" everyday to represent the "Body and Blood of the Sacrifical Lamb"....And then Jesus, at the Last Supper says....
Great Stuff!!
