So its day three and we head south through the desert. We grab about 4 bottles of water and hike the deserts by the Sinai mountains. We climbed this hill for a wonderful lesson on the children of Israel as they left Egypt. We are in Timnah. This intense teaching was a highlight for me. Share your thoughts with us!

Day 3 Lesson 8 Wilderness

This was one of my favorite days. The teaching we received here has completely changed the way I look at the Text. The 10 commandments was the katuba, the wedding covenant and they/we keep them to say I love you to our husband. Also when Moses went up to receive the katuba the bride used there wedding bands and committed adultery. No wonder Moses broke the tablets when he came down and found them the way he did. Bless God for giving us a new understanding of the Text!
Isaiah 13:5
The adultery was bad...very bad....But God told Moses that the wedding was still on!!
Where's that Tamborine??
HE STILL LOVED THEM and us.
Not only "Bless God for giving us a new understanding of the Text." But Bless God he's given us another chance...and another...and another...
I'll never forget the pain I felt when I thought of God's pain...and then the keen joy of those ringing commitments among us, verbalized or not, "I DO!!!" What a story to let into your life more fully! His love is beyond all other loves!
I hear the ten commandments in "a different tone of voice" since learning that they are the "wedding vows." I remember Rod standing on top of that rock and reading the ten commandments after our lesson. I wanted to say "Read them again, and read them in the tone of voice you would have said your wedding vows." I would still like to hear them read that way sometime.
I look at the ten commandments way different then i did before this lesson. I dont hear them as a command anymore but its a vow of love, set apart for, only you! Since im back from Israel i have memorized the ten commadments and is so good to just run them through my head every once in a while. So if your looking for your next passage to memorize i would highly recommend this!!
Why dont we call them the ten vows instead of the ten commandments? I like how it sounds better because its more like a commitment that we made instead of a command that God gave us.
Wow Chery I really like that idea, the 10 vows. That whole day was really powerful to me as well. I was deeply convicted on the point of making space for God and spending much time with Him. Because what newly-wed couple doesn't want to be together always? God wants our precious time not our spare time! He wants to communicate deeply with us-to know us. Know Him & Obey Him!
